One of the absolute essentials of Islam you must know is understanding the basics of Muslim faith; the 6 articles of faith and the 5 pillars of Islam. Without seeking proper knowledge and having the right foundation, our worship and daily life may be doubtful at best, or worse, rejected. This course outlines the absolute essentials of Islam and knowledge a Muslim needs to follow the footsteps of Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, in our worship and obedience to Allah The Almighty.
In this introductory course, you will learn about the the Personally Obligatory (Fard al ayn), the Communally Obligatory (Fard al Kifayah) and the rulings of sacred law (the obligatory, the recommended, the unlawful, the offensive and the permissible).
This essential Islam course is suitable for anyone who wants to build a solid foundation in understanding Islam, whether you are a born Muslim, re-observant Muslim, non-Muslim or convert/revert. It is also a recommended refresher course for Muslim parents living in contemporary Singapore.
The teacher will be using Al-Maqasid by Imam Nawawi and ‘Umdat as-Salik wa ‘Uddat (Reliance of the Traveller) by Shihabuddin Abu al-‘Abbas Ahmad ibn an-Naqib al-Misri as references.
Ustadh Mohammad Razib is a highly trained and experienced scholar who has dedicated his career to the study and dissemination of Traditional Islamic Sciences. He has received extensive education from renowned teachers in Singapore, and his expertise lies in a range of areas, including Tawhid, Fiqh, Tasawwuf, and Tajwid Al-Quran. Currently, Ustadh Mohammad is actively engaged in teaching Fardu `Ayn (Obligations of an individual Muslim) and Quran classes to children and youth. He is deeply committed to providing high-quality education that empowers his participants to become well-informed and ethical members of their communities.
Participants will delve into topics such as death, the grave, and the Afterlife, sins and disbelief, predestination and types of knowledge, and the ranks of Prophets, Messengers, and Companions. Through this lesson, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the Islamic faith and its core beliefs.
This lesson on ablution covers various topics related to purification in Islamic practices. It includes instructions on the purificatory bath (Ghusl), as well as dry ablution techniques. The course also explores the purification process for menstruation, post-natal bleeding, and dysfunctional uterine bleeding. Additionally, it covers different types of filth and how to purify oneself from them, including cleaning after relieving oneself. Finally, the lesson addresses the Adhan/Iqamah, which is the call to prayer in Islam.
This lesson focuses on the Obligatory Prayers and covers topics such as the Times of Prescribed Prayers, the method of performing the Prayer, the Integrals of Prayer, and the Main Sunnahs of Prayer. Participants will learn about the importance of these prayers and the necessary components to perform them correctly. By the end of the lesson, participants will have a comprehensive understanding of the Obligatory Prayers and be able to perform them with confidence.
This lesson covers various aspects of fasting in Islam, including its intention, conditions for validity, things that invalidate the fast, and those who are not required to fast. It also discusses the recommended practices of fasting, such as the Sunnahs of fasting, and days that are unlawful to fast. In addition, the course covers the topics of Zakah, including Zakat mal, Zakat Fitrah, and the deserving recipients of Zakah. Valid excuses from fasting are also explored in this lesson.
This lesson focuses on the practical aspects of performing the Islamic prayer, including ablution and dry ablution. Participants will learn the proper techniques and steps involved in performing these rituals, which are essential for anyone who wants to perform prayer in accordance with Islamic teachings.
