SimplyIslam.sg is pleased to present Days with Our Beloved, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ Camp, a Sirah intensive retreat for children and teens during the school holidays. This is the time for them to learn more about the Sirah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and foster love and appreciation for him, InshaAllah.
This Sirah Retreat will bring together like-minded Muslim kids for some fun-filled days of Islamic living, learning and inspirational experiences.
Your child will experience an engaging insight into the life of the Prophet, Allah’s Peace and Blessings be Upon Him, delivered in a manner that is fun and interactive by exploring the Sirah Nabawiyah.
In line with the desire to ensure this Sirah Retreat will complement the kids holidays with fun-filled lessons instead of just drab textbooks, many of the lessons will adopt a hybrid delivery that goes beyond just books, but takes learning on an interactive journey through the Prophet’s (s) life, character, and values through exciting and enriching programs such as, Stories from the Sirah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, Islamic Quizzes, Sirah games, Qasidah sessions (Islamic poems), and more.
During the activity, the teacher will show a video on loving Rasulullah and briefly explain its meaning. Following this, each team will be given a large mahjong paper and colored markers to brainstorm and express their answers to a set of questions. The questions include identifying who Muhammad ﷺis, his importance in Islam, a personal example of Prophet Muhammad to follow, the biggest problem facing the world today, and what Rasulullah ﷺ would do to solve it. Once completed, each team will present their answers, fostering teamwork and knowledge-sharing among the students.
In this activity, each student will receive a colored piece of paper and choose an act of kindness that is sunnah, writing “I will _______ because it is sunnah” on it. They will also decorate the paper with their names written on the back. After the team completes their work, the students will collect their team members’ papers and pass them to the teacher for lamination. They will then cut the material accordingly, punch a hole in each paper, and attach a ribbon to it. Finally, students will be reminded to keep their work in a ziplock bag for safekeeping. This activity promotes creativity, knowledge of sunnah, and teamwork among students.
In this activity, the teacher will read the story of Rasulullah’s childhood to students in the first part, while students listen attentively. In the second part, each team will be given a set of puzzles that represent Rasulullah’s family tree. The teams will have to solve the puzzle and paste it on cardboard. The first team to solve the puzzle will receive a reward. Afterward, the teacher will display the family tree of Rasulullah on a TV and explain the lineage. Finally, a video will be played to further help students understand.
During the class, each student will receive a paper containing the lyrics and meanings of the Qasidah. The teacher will lead the students in singing along to “Mawla Ya Salli wa Sallim” while a video is played on the screen to help them follow along.
In this activity, the teacher will go through the points in the booklet with the students. Then, each team will be given a script that represents the life of Rasulullah ﷺ during a specific period of time. The team members will need to assign roles and plan how to act out the script, with one student appointed as the narrator. They will have 30 minutes to prepare before presenting their skit on stage.
In this activity, the teacher will display a life-size cutout of a human body and lay out flashcards with different physical attributes of Rasulullah ﷺ. Each team member will take turns choosing a point and pasting it onto the corresponding part of the body. After all the points have been placed, the class will review and correct any misplaced cards. The student who corrects a card’s position will receive a reward.
During this class period, students will be seated in the classroom and provided with a worksheet on the Sirah of Prophet Muhammad after Hijrah. The teacher will play a video on the Hijrah of Rasulullah ﷺ on the TV and explain the story of Hijrah. Next, teams will be given a brief description of the highlights of each year and will be asked to read them carefully. Using the provided information, each team will be asked to create posters.
The teacher will prepare two boxes, one with sunnah foods and the other with non-sunnah foods. Students will take turns guessing what they are touching inside each box. Correct answers will be rewarded. After the activity, the class will review the types of food that Rasulullah ﷺ loved and did not like.
In this activity, each team will be provided with a large mahjong paper and colored markers to brainstorm and write their answers. The questions they need to answer are: Why was a person chosen to deliver Allah’s message? How did the Prophet treat animals? Did the Prophet like children? Did the Prophet have fun and joke with his friends? and indicate one sunnah of the Prophet. After completing the task, the teacher will check the answers, and the class will discuss some of the responses. Finally, the teacher will explain the questions in detail.
In this activity, we encourage students to write a letter to Rasulullah, ﷺ which can be a powerful exercise in helping students connect with the Prophet ﷺ and express their feelings and thoughts towards him. It can be an opportunity for them to reflect on his teachings, his exemplary character, and how they can apply those lessons to their daily lives.
