An esteemed and great scholar, Shaykh Ahmad al-Marzuqi al-Maliki, wrote a poem outlining what constitutes the creed (Tawhid) of Islam. It covers all the foundations and pillars of the Islamic faith.
Aqidah and Tawhid form the basis of our belief in the oneness of Allah Almighty. It is the foundation and pillars upon which our Islamic faith is built. The five pillars of Islam, the six articles of faith – it is a forgone conclusion that this should be deeply bounded in our heart and faith, and embellished within us, in our character and our devotion and worship of Allah Almighty.
If your basis – your foundation – of Islamic creed is not as strong as it can be, it is integral to your faith to learn the basics of our deen, of Aqidah and Tawhid, and all it encapsulates.
Understanding our Islamic creed, by immersing into the Attributes of Allah Almighty is incumbent upon us, upon all Muslims, for it builds within us the necessary foundations of Islam and gives us the fuel to learn more, to strengthen our faith in our Journey through Islam, towards Jannah Insha’Allah.
In the Islamic Creed course, Ustadh Muhammad Salleh will explain the various tenets of the faith with a commentary of the poem by Imam Marzuqi over 6 lessons. You will complete the course with a solid foundation in understanding what it means to be Muslim, Insha’Allah.
This course will embrace the unique and powerful teaching methodology of the esteemed and great scholar, Shaykh Ahmad al-Marzuqi al-Maliki, who used a poem as the driver in outlining what constitutes our Islamic creed (Tawhid) or Aqidah. It covers all the foundations and pillars of the Islamic faith.
Due to its rhyming scheme but also its clarity and depth, it is memorized and taught in major schools and other institutions of learning all over the world, from the Middle East, to Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and even the West.
Ustadh Muhammad Salleh is SimplyIslam’s Chief Knowledge Strategist and a certified instructor by the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) & the Asatizah Recognition Board (ARB). He received his education from Malaysia’s National University before pursuing his degree at Egypt’s Al-Azhar University. Besides that, he also graduated from Singapore’s prestigious Madrasah Aljunied Al-Islamiah and completed his full-time pre-university studies at the Madrasah.
In this insightful lesson, students will explore three crucial categories. First, the Obligatory Attributes, emphasizing their intrinsic connection to the nature of Allah and their pivotal role in shaping the divine identity. Next, the Impossible Attributes, understanding the limitations that are inherently inconceivable for Allah. Finally, the Possible Attributes, appreciating the conceivable characteristics that align with Allah’s omnipotence and exploring their diverse manifestations in the world.
The lesson explores the diverse roles of angels, from Jibreel (Gabriel) alaihi salam, the messenger who delivered revelations to prophets, to Mika’il alaihi salam, responsible for nourishing and sustaining creation. Understanding the concept of angels is crucial in grasping the spiritual dimension of Islam, offering insights into the divine order and the interconnectedness of the heavenly realm with the earthly one.

The lesson covers the belief in various holy books, including the Quran, Torah, Bible, and others, as revelations from Allah to different prophets. The instructor places an emphasis on the Qur’an as the final and complete revelation, guiding followers in matters of faith and conduct.

In this lesson, students will delve into the profound aspects of Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ life. The narrative explores not only the pivotal role of his immediate family but also delved into the miraculous journey of Isra’ Mi’raj, showcasing the spiritual significance of this event in Islamic tradition. By understanding the familial ties and the divine experiences of the Prophet ﷺ, students will gain a deeper appreciation for the historical and spiritual dimensions of Islam, fostering a connection between the audience and the profound teachings of the faith.
In this final lesson, the instructor will explicate the powerful poem authored by Imam Marzuqi, focusing on key essential elements of the poem to solidify one’s Tauhid.
