Islam encourages human beings, in particular Muslims, to be creative in order to have a prosperous and happy life. The Qur’an encourages Muslims to use their intellects or ‘Aql to find solutions to problems that occur in their everyday lives. The Quran keeps repeating and stressing on certain words to remind and encourage Muslims to be creative and aware of their needs and wellbeing. Allah says ‚Verily! In the creation of the heavens and earth, and in the alteration of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding…‛ It shows that the value of creativity and innovation is not in everyone. Only those who ponder and understand the wisdom and reasons behind the creation of mankind and the creatures of the earth, would try to benefit life in full while being obedient servants of Allah.
Looking at the past great Civilizations, we observed many of them prospered and their creativity were preserved and memorialised through Art, Architecture, Music, Cuisine, Dress, Poetry etc.
One of the divine attributes of Allah is Al-Khaliq,The Creator and the word creator shares the same root word with Creative. The speaker will also discuss the Sacred Metaphysics and the foundation of creativity in the perspective of Qur’an and the Prophetic Traditions.
