Prof Recep Senturik

Dr. Recep Şentürk, currently serving as the Dean of the College of Islamic Studies at HBKU, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his role. Prior to this position, he held the esteemed position of Founding President at Ibn Haldun University in Istanbul from 2017 to 2021. Dr. Şentürk’s academic journey includes earning a PhD from Columbia University’s Department of Sociology, where he focused on Civilization Studies, Sociology, and Islamic Studies, particularly delving into social networks, human rights, and modernization in the Muslim world.

His contributions to academia extend beyond his role as Dean, having served as a researcher at the Center for Islamic Studies (İSAM) in Istanbul and as the Founding Director of the Alliance of Civilizations Institute. Additionally, Dr. Şentürk is the Head of the International Ibn Khaldun Society, highlighting his dedication to scholarly pursuits within the Islamic studies domain.

His extensive publication record includes notable works such as “Narrative Social Structure: Hadith Transmission Network 610-1505” in English and “Open Civilization: Towards a Multi-Civilizational Society and World,” “Ibn Khaldun: Contemporary Readings,” “Malcolm X: Struggle for Human Rights,” and “Social Memory: Hadith Transmission Network 610-1505” in Turkish.
