Cupping, or Hijamah in Arabic, has been practiced since the ancient times, by many cultures and civilisations. More importantly, it is one of the great sunnahs of the Prophet, Peace and Blessings be upon him, in curing diseases traditionally.

Although modern medicine has gained public attention and recognition due to its extensive research and is backed by much scientific evidence, it is important to take into consideration alternative medicine as they themselves possess certain healing properties that modern medicine don’t.

Hijamah has been stated in many hadiths, and here are just some of them:

Narrated Jabir bin `Abdullah:

That he paid Al-Muqanna a visit during his illness and said, “I will not leave till he gets cupped, for I heard Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) saying, “There is healing in cupping.”

Sahih al-Bukhari

Narrated Abu Hurayrah:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: The best medical treatment you apply is cupping.

Abu Dawud

Fundamentally, cupping is encouraged by the Prophet and many of his companions did it as well, especially during fasting and in Ihram. Of course, there are many advantages or benefits to practicing cupping in our lives. Generally, cupping is known to treat these types of ailments such as:
