The Blueprint of Islamic Piety course is based on a classical text by the illustrious Islamic scholar Al-Imam Abu Hamid Al-Ghazali entitled “Beginning of Guidance” (Bidayat Al-Hidayah). It is a treatise for seekers to attain an organised and successful spiritual life.
The Beginning of Guidance (Bidayat Al-Hidayah) is one of the most useful shorter treatises for seekers of a successful and organised spiritual life. Written by one of the Great Masters of Islam Al-Imam Abu Hamid Al-Ghazali, this book itself is a simplified version of his most celebrated work, The revival of the Religious Sciences (Ihya Ulum Al-Din). In the book, Imam Al-Ghazali prefaced,”You should know before all else that guidance, which is the fruit of knowledge, has a beginning and an end, an outward aspect and an inward essence. There is no way to reach the end without mastering the beginning, just as there is no way to discover the inner essence of it until you have arrived at an understanding of its outward.”
This course is in two parts, with this being the first part of the course. Attendance to both parts of the course is not a pre-requisite, but is recommended. This course is suitable for those who have received basic religious knowledge or exposure to Imam Al-Ghazali’s works. It is also highly recommended for students, parents and educators living in contemporary Singapore.
