In countless pages of history<\/div>\n
Lies a tale of an astounding sacrifice<\/div>\n
Seldom told, almost forgotten<\/div>\n
About a Companion<\/div>\n
Whom no one wants to marry<\/div>\n
And his name is Saad Al Aswad As Sulumi<\/div>\n
Who regarded himself as the lowest
\nAmong the believers
\nBecause no one would give him their daughters to marry <\/p>\n

And so Saad brought up his issue with the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)
\nWho ordered him to go to the house of Ibn Wahab
\nOne of the leaders of Madinah
\nTo request for his daughter’s hand in marriage<\/p>\n

Ibn Wahab’s daughter was renowned for her beauty
\nAnd her bloodline of nobility
\nAnd Saad was promptly rejected
\nAs her father don’t see him fit for her<\/p>\n

And Saad walked away feeling dejected
\nOnly to realise that his future bride to be
\nHad overturned her father’s decision
\nAcknowledging the orders of the Messenger (pbuh)<\/p>\n

And she told Saad
\nGo to the Prophet (pbuh)
\nAnd tell him
\n“I’m ready to marry you!”<\/p>\n

And Saad who was poor<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Was told he needed 400 dirhams to marry her
\nSo the rest of the Companions aided him
\nUntil Saad got more than he needed
\nSo he decided to go to the marketplace
\nSo that he can present his beautiful wife
\nWith some beautiful gifts <\/p>\n

And by the time he reached the marketplace
\nHe froze and stood still
\nAs he heard the call of Jihad
\nHe looked to the heavens and said
\n“Oh Allah, I will buy with this wealth something which is pleasing for You”<\/p>\n

So this man,
\nWhom no one wanted to marry
\nWas about to marry one of the beauties of Madinah
\nUsed up all the wealth he was given
\nTo buy a horse and a sword
\nWent into the battlefield with his face covered
\nAs he feared he would be asked to return<\/p>\n

And in the battlefield his horse was struck
\nAnd he fell off from his horse
\nAnd when he stood up
\nThe Prophet (pbuh) recognized him
\nRealized what he did and told him
\n“Oh Saad, there is no other abode for you but Jannah!”<\/p>\n

Upon hearing this
\nSaad jumped back into the front
\nAnd he fought fiercely
\nUntil he was martyred<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

And within those countless pages of history
\nThere was a time where there were countless man of substance
\nAnd within that countless count
\nThere was Saad Al Aswad As Sulumi
\nAnd many more
\nSeldom told, almost forgotten<\/div>\n
