There was a time in my youth,
\nWhen Islam was only a custom.
\nThey said “say La IIaha IIIa Allah,..
\nAnd pray, you’ll go to Heaven.”<\/p>\n

Ah, how simple, no struggle in this,
\nJust a word, and simple act.
\nThereafter I’m absorbed in this world again,
\nWith my ‘assured’ place in Paradise intact.<\/p>\n

But this was not to be my fate
\nFor ALLAH chose to guide my heart.
\nI learnt of a man who struggled so hard
\nWhen his mission was from the start.<\/p>\n

The story of someone who had morals,
\nSpoke gently, kindness he knew.
\nNever fearing to say what’s right,
\nHis conviction in ISLAM was true.<\/p>\n

The touch of his hand was as soft as silk
\nTo comfort a crying child.
\nTo mend his clothes, or do the chores,
\nNever complaining, he always smiled.<\/p>\n

A living he made with his bare hands,
\nThe same that held his mighty sword.
\nValour shone from the edge of his blade,<\/p>\n

His smell was always of musk,
\nAnd cleanliness he kept at his best.
\nStark contrast with the heroes of today,
\nWho stink of beer and sweat.<\/p>\n

He held the hands of his companions.
\nUnashamed to play with many children.
\nSo modest, so humble, a perfect example,
\nThat strangers could not recognise him.<\/p>\n

His eyes slept little for nights were precious,
\nHis prayers he treasured much greater.
\nTo pray Tahajjud in the depths of night,
\nSeeking forgiveness, and nearness to his Creator.<\/p>\n

He broke his tooth for me at Uhud,
\nAnd bled for me at Ta’if.
\nHe cried for me, tears of concern,
\nJust so I could have this belief.<\/p>\n

His enemies admired his teachings,
\nUniting every religion, every clan.
\nTill ISLAM came to every corner of the world,
\nO, but indeed he was only a man.<\/p>\n

To own a house, or build his wealth
\nWas not his main priority.
\nTo establish ISLAM was more essential,
\nTo bring us under a Higher Authority.<\/p>\n

Don’t you want him to plea for your case,
\nWhen before ALLAH-The Judge-you stand?
\nDon’t you wish to be around his fountain,
\nA burning desire to drink from his hand?<\/p>\n

So I love him more than all creation,
\nMy Leader, my Humble Prophet.
\nMuhammad (SAWS) was a mercy to all mankind,
\nAnd to me, he is MY BELOVED !<\/p>\n
