 <\/p>\n

Desperately, helplessly, longingly, I cried.
\nQuietly, patiently, lovingly God replied.
\nI pled and I wept for a clue to my fate,
\nAnd the Master so gently said, \u201c\u00a0Wait. “<\/p>\n

“Wait?\u201d you say, “Wait?” my indignant reply.
\n“Lord, I need answers, I need to know why!”
\nIs your hand shortened? Or have you not heard?
\nBy faith I have asked, and i’m claiming Your Word.<\/p>\n

“My future and all to which I can relate
\nHangs in the balance, and you tell me to\u00a0wait?
\nI’m needing a “yes”, a go ahead sign
\nOr even a “no”, to which I can resign.
\n“And Lord, you promised that if we believe
\nWe need but to ask, and we shall receive.
\nAnd Lord, I’ve been asking, and this is my cry:
\nI’m weary of asking! I need a reply.”<\/p>\n

Then quietly, softly, I learned of my fate
\nAs my Master replied again, “Wait.”
\nSo, I slumped in my chair, defeated and taut
\nAnd grumbled to God, “So, I’m waiting…for what?”
\nHe seemed then to kneel and His Eyes met with mine
\nAnd He tenderly said, “I could give you a sign.
\nI could shake the heavens, and darken the sun.
\nI could raise the dead, and cause mountains to run.<\/p>\n

All you seek, I could give, and pleased you would be.
\nYou would have what you want ,but you wouldn’t know Me.
\nYou’d not know the depth of my love for each saint;
\nYou’d not know the power that I give to the faint;
\nYou’d not learn to see through clouds of despair;
\nYou’d not learn to trust just by knowing I’m there;
\nYou’d not know the joy of resting in Me
\nWhen darkness and silence are all you can see.<\/p>\n

You’d never experience the fullness of love
\nwhen the peace of My Spirit descends like a dove;
\nYou would know that I give and I save, for a start,
\nBut you’d not know the depth of the beat of My Heart.
\nThe glow of My comfort late into the night.
\nThe Faith that I give when you walk without sight,
\nThe depth that’s beyond getting just what you asked
\nfrom an infinite God, who makes what you have last.<\/p>\n

You’d never know, should your pain quickly flee,
\nWhat it means that My grace is sufficient for thee.
\nYes, your dearest dreams overnight would come true,
\nbut oh,the loss if I lost what I’m doing in you.
\nSo, be silent, My child, and in time you will see
\nthat the greatest of gifts is to truly know Me.
\nAnd though oft My answers seem terribly late,
