We understand that many questions may have arisen as a result of these measures. This FAQ is designed to address your questions & alleviate any concerns you may have with regards to the disruption of our classes & programs. In the Name of Allah The Merciful, and by His Love and Honour of Sayyidina Muhammad, Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him, we seek refuge in Allah from evil and debilitating diseases, and we pray that He grant safety for everyone, and afford His Divine Support to our healthcare workers and everyone involved to monitor, control, treat and curb the disease. Amin Ya Rabbal ‘Alamin.

Please do take care, stay healthy, and stay safe. Please keep us all in your prayers. Thank you.

Is SimplyIslam closed?

SimplyIslam’s classes – both the Weekend Islamic School and our adult classes – have been suspended since the 12th of March 2020. This was in line with national health and safety advisories, including guidelines by the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS). As an approved Islamic Education Centre & Provider (IECP), we comply with advisory provided by MUIS.

Our office at 152 Still Road is open and currently operational.

Is SimplyIslam’s office @ Still Road open?

Yes, our office at 152 Still Road is open and currently operational. However, we discourage visits to our office as much as possible at this point of time. If payment needs to be made, please do so digitally via the various payment options available. Please give us a call at 6547 4407 for directives on financial matters.

Why are SimplyIslam’s classes suspended?

We take the health, safety, and well-being of our students, teachers, staff and all stakeholders at SimplyIslam seriously. We are vigilant of current national health and safety advisories.

As you may be aware, the discovery of Muslim individuals in Singapore who tested positive for COVID-19 after attending a large religious gathering in Malaysia, and the nature of Singapore’s socially-mobile, closely-knit Muslim community have led to closure of Mosques. Some of our students may be congregants at the Mosques, and may be exposed to some risks.

The temporary suspension of our classes will help prevent the possibility of secondary transmission.

Are there any cases at SimplyIslam?

No. None, of our staff, students and stakeholders have reported any cases of Covid-19, nor have we received any directives from the Ministry of Health (MOH) or the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) to close or suspend our operations.

Our current actions are borne out of a socially-responsible mindset, and to ensure the safety of students, teachers, staff and stakeholders.

When will classes recommence?

Adult classes are scheduled to resume from Friday, 27 March 2020. These dates are subject to further advisories and guidelines from government authorities and agencies, and may be amended should health and safety advisories advice so.

How do we know when classes have been re-scheduled to?

For students of our Adult classes, a tentative schedule has been drawn up. Please refer to the attached schedule for details on your class schedule.

Further to this, our staff will be in touch with you to ascertain which dates are feasible with you. We understand that everyone has their own commitments and prior engagements, and we seek to make this as smooth and painless for you. Our staff will be providing you with options for the make-up or rescheduled classes.

What if we can’t attend on the rescheduled dates?

We hope that it will not come to this eventuality. But if it does, we will provide video recordings of these lessons.

Can I attend the lessons missed on the next run of this class?

Yes, you may. But we would suggest you attend these current re-scheduled classes as we cannot be sure on the schedule of new or re-run classes, and the duration till the next class may span months or even a year.

Should you still wish to take up this option, please give us a call at 6547 4407 and we would do our best to accommodate your wish.

What if I am on Leave of Absence (LOA) or Stay Home Notice (SHN) on these dates?

Some teachers/staff at public schools may be on a Leave of Absence (LOA). If you fall under this category, please stay at home and do not attend the re-scheduled classes until your LOA is completed.

If you are under Stay Home Notice (SHN), you are to strictly remain at home at all times. You cannot attend classes.

Do not worry, we will provide you with access to the video recordings of the classes missed.

What about the notes for these classes now that they will be delivered online?

Notes will be disseminated to you through your class’s broadcast group on WhatsApp. Please ensure that you have saved this number: 9475 2251 (save as SimplyIslam Broadcast) on your phone as, otherwise, you would not be able to receive our broadcasts.

Will everyone be able to see my number and contact me via this broadcast group?

No. This broadcast group has been created with everyone’s privacy in mind. Nobody will be able to see each other’s numbers nor send each other messages.

Only SimplyIslam has access to this and all your replies and discussions via this channel can only be seen by SimplyIslam.

What if I have questions to ask for these classes? How will I voice them now that I am viewing these classes via a video?

We have set-up a WhatsApp broadcast group viable to this purpose. You may simply send your questions via this one-way channel, and the instructor teaching the class will respond to your questions.

What measures have SimplyIslam taken to curb the spread of Covid-19?

The suspension of SimplyIslam’s classes were taken to curb the spread of Covid-19. Additionally, we have adopted a system of measures aimed at minimising healthcare risks:

1.) Temperature taking will be implemented at all our centres. Any student with a temperature of 37.5 or above will be asked to return and seek medical attention.

2. Any student with a runny nose, sneezing, coughing or exhibit visibly distraught symptoms will be isolated and asked to return and seek medical attention.

3. Hand sanitisers will be placed at all classes for students and teachers to use.

4. The shaking of hands (salam) and physical contact is discouraged. Students may greet one another with the #SalamMufti.

5. Our schools and premises have undergone a deep-cleanse process to disinfect and decontaminate, and will continue to be sanitised regularly for conducive learning, in accordance with health and safety guidelines.

What will happen if there is a nationwide lockdown?

Singapore government has indicated that it “will not rule out a lockdown to tackle the growing threat of the coronavirus outbreak, but it is not an option currently on the cards”.

In such an event, no school, classes or programs will be conducted. SimplyIslam will be closed and will suspend all operations during the period of the lockdown.
