The word khuluq (خُلُق) denotes a comprehensive term that covers the moral and behavioral aspects of a person. It is sometimes used interchangeably with the word adab (أدب), which is often translated as etiquette. These terms are used when speaking of refined social manners, good character, sound moral values, decency, politeness, reverence, and high regard for people and perhaps even places or times.
The speaker will discuss the reality of Prophet Muhammad’s Character in the Qur’an based on a hadith of Sayyidatuna ‘Aisha, when asked about the character of the Prophet Muhammad, she responded; “Kana Khuluquhu Al-Qur’an” His character is Al-Qur’an and in reality, no one can really praise the Prophet like Allah the Almighty when he said: “Innaka la’ala Khuluqin ‘Adhim” Verily, you are of a great moral character. In this lecture, the speaker will talk about the difference between Al-Qur’an and it’s another name, Al-Furqan.
This workshop serves as a practical advise in the science of drawing closer to Allah Most High. The speaker will explain in depth a structured way for each seeker to adopt and practice. Not only understand the main duties required for the Muslim who hopes to draw closer to his Creator but also to ensure that one’s beginning is grounded and firm. This workshop will clarify the core terminology and concepts found in the larger books of Islamic Spirituality (Tasawwuf).
Islam encourages human beings, in particular Muslims, to be creative in order to have a prosperous and happy life. The Qur’an encourages Muslims to use their intellects or ‘Aql to find solutions to problems that occur in their everyday lives. The Quran keeps repeating and stressing on certain words to remind and encourage Muslims to be creative and aware of their needs and wellbeing. Allah says ‚Verily! In the creation of the heavens and earth, and in the alteration of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding…‛ It shows that the value of creativity and innovation is not in everyone. Only those who ponder and understand the wisdom and reasons behind the creation of mankind and the creatures of the earth, would try to benefit life in full while being obedient servants of Allah.
Looking at the past great Civilizations, we observed many of them prospered and their creativity were preserved and memorialised through Art, Architecture, Music, Cuisine, Dress, Poetry etc.
One of the divine attributes of Allah is Al-Khaliq,The Creator and the word creator shares the same root word with Creative. The speaker will also discuss the Sacred Metaphysics and the foundation of creativity in the perspective of Qur’an and the Prophetic Traditions.
Allah the Almighty mentioned the birth Prophet Yahya (John the Baptist) in the Qur’an:
Peace was on him the day he was born, the day he died, and it will be on him the day he is raised to life again. [Qur’an 19:15]
The Qur’an also mentioned the birth of Prophet Isa (Jesus) by narrating Prophet Isa’s own words as a newborn:
Peace was on me the day I was born, and will be on me the day I die and the day I am raised to life again. and the day I will die, and the day I will be raised up alive. [Qur’an 19:33]
In this lecture, the speaker will discuss the miraculous birth of the two prophets as mentioned in the Holy Qur’an, and the fact that both blessed births were celebrated, acknowledged and praised by Allah. The speaker will also show clear proof from the Qur’an how the Mawlid (Birth) of Prophet Muhammad is also a period of immense blessings.
The book authored by Dr. Ali Hussain delves into the metaphysical aspects of the creative process by drawing insights from Sufi sage Ibn al-ʿArabi and other mystics. The central themes are twofold: first, making connections where none seem possible, and second, translating the ineffable into the tangible.
Divided into two sections, the book’s first part explores metaphysical foundations that apply universally to all creative endeavors. It touches on the significance of storytelling, the creative process as a hidden treasure unfolding, and the role of the artist as both creator and creation. The chapter on imagination and paradox delves into the complexities of creativity.
In the second part, the book delves into various art forms, including the written arts, visual arts, auditory arts, and moving arts. It also expands the discussion to the role of creativity in society and mythology. The final chapter offers concluding remarks, summarizing the book’s goals and setting the stage for further discussions.
Overall, this book explores the profound connection between mysticism and the creative process, offering valuable insights for those interested in the intersection of spirituality and artistry.
Allah, the Exalted, has blessed the family of the greatest Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam with a great status and a pure noble kinship. And made among them knowledgeable scholars who were the lights through the darkness of fitan (seditions) and corruption. There are several views among the scholars (may Allah have mercy on them) concerning the definition of Ahl al-Bayt.The lecture will highlight the status of Ahl Bayt and explore the praise for them in The Qur’an. The speaker will also discuss the status and standing of Ahl Bayt among the scholars of Ahl Sunnah Wal Jama’ah
